Our Programming Methods
We believe all children within our care deserve to be nurtured and educated to ensure they have the best possible chance upon commencing their school years. We lay the foundations upon which all learning is built. From birth, children begin to learn and we do not stop learning throughout our lives. By providing a 'Child Directed Program' in which children have the opportunity to select their activities based on current interests, the children develop a positive self concept and increased confidence.
What is a child directed program?
This refers to a program and teaching style that allows children to select their learning materials and utilise these until they are sufficiently happy they have mastered a particular activity. All children need to feel as though they are in control of their environment within reasonable boundaries and limits, they also require the confidence to make their own decisions. We strive to build upon their self esteem so they can be in charge of themselves and develop a healthy, positive self concept. By developing a child's self confidence and self concept, we provide them with the confidence to learn and to challenge themselves. Children will learn more and learn quicker if they are confident.
We are here to be facilitators to child learning
Our Staff care for and nurture children while providing an educational setting for them. Instead of telling a child what to learn, we believe it is more important to facilitate their learning. Think back to when you where young, did you take in everything your Teacher wrote on the blackboard? Do you remember hands on experiences more than anything else? By providing free choice of activities and allowing a little freedom within our rooms, the children gain a sense of ownership over their learning. We believe all children have their own unique personality which should be recognised and encouraged.
